Frank Ackerman House - Lake Street, Bridgman, Michigan (1934-?)
Frank had a couple of homes while he lived in Bridgman. He built the house shown below in 1924-25 with the help of Gib Ackerman, Bill Backus (Marie's future husband and Gib's good friend) and Bill's father - a carpenter. It was on the north side of Lake Street just east of Red Arrow Highway. Walter B. Ackerman, his son, lived right next door. Check out the map of Bridgman near Frank's house drawn by Robert Weston Ackerman in the slideshow, plus a postcard of Bridgman from the time period. Grandpa Gib spent a lot of time in Frank's house while he was growing up because he very close to his grandparents and they had a big farm. Frank loved cars and we can see photos of a couple of them in this short slideshow. Also, Frank had a well and pump business. The rig Walter and him owned in 1925 is in the slideshow below. Bob owned the home after Frank died in 1934 and one of the last photos is of the house in the 1950s. The home was razed some time in the 60s or 70s? There is a credit union parking lot there today.
