Walter Bridgman Ackerman House - Lake Street, Bridgman, Michigan (190?-1950s)
Walter lived right next door to his dad, Frank, in Bridgman on Lake Street just a few blocks east of Red Arrow Highway (it used to be U.S. 12 - built in 1926-28 according to Robert Weston Ackerman's drawing in the slideshow). Walter and Elda (Pearl) lived in this house for many years. Marie, Gib, Chal, Babe and Nevie grew up in this house right next door to Frank and Sarah's house. Grandpa Gib spent a lot of time at his grandmother and grandfather's house while he was growing up because he was very close to his grandparents and they had a big farm. Check out the map of Bridgman near Frank's house drawn by Robert Weston Ackerman in the slideshow, plus a postcard of Bridgman from the time period. Walter ran a well and pump business and there are photos of the rig he owned with Frank in 1925, as well as Walter's own rig in the slideshow below. Unfortunately, we don't have many photos of Walter and Pearl's house or the interior. The home was razed some time in the 60s or 70s? There is a credit union parking lot there today.
